19th C. French Antique Plum Jar Pontiled Blown Glass Stopper:
A fine 19th-century blown glass plum jar, likely manufactured in France during the mid to late 19th century, although possibly made earlier. Similar jars feature glass seals that say some variation of “PRUNES D’ENTE J. FAU DE BORDEAUX,” although this jar is unmarked. This jar was blown in a turn mold and features a pontil scar on the base. The stopper seems to have been free blown, and it also features a pontil scar on the top. The lip of the jar is nicely outwardly folded over. Absolutely full of bubbles and in very fine condition with no chips or cracks, just some very minor base wear as expected. The stopper has some mineral residue within it that is whitish and cloudy, but could probably be cleaned out. Height without glass stopper is around 9 3/4” and base diameter is around 5 1/8”. Overall a stunning piece of glass that is a great addition to a jar collection or any collection of antique glass!
