This is an old hardcover book with dust jacket, 9 1/4\" x 6 1/2\",248pages, entitled\"The Magnificent Moisants, Champions Of Early Flight.\" The book was written by Doris L. Rich and,it is copyright 1998,and published by Smithsonian Institution Press. Washington, D.C..The book is a very well-written history of John, Alfred, and Matilde, Moisant\'s exploits in the very early years of aviation - John Moisant set three world records in a flight from Paris to London in 1910, Matilde was just the second woman in America to earn a pilots License. She broke the altitude record for an airplane in 1911and she also performed stunts in the air that rivaled her two brothers in their daredevilry. Although the Moisants never achieved the fame of The Wright Brothers, their courage and showmanship were instrumental in stimulating public enthusiasm for aviation which led to its growth. In addition to the text, the book also contains 14 old photographs with captions. The book is 26 years old, and it (and the dust jacket) are in absolutely mint condition!
