This is an original press photo. Twenty-classrooms, $1.5 million transitional school in Wilbraham opened today even though some finishing touches are still required here and there. Fifth and 6th grade pupils from Memorial School entered the new school which is designed to accommodate Grades 4, 5 and 6. It may be converted under certain conditions to accommodate Grades 1,2 and 3. A. R. Green of Holyoke were contractors. Alderman & MacNeish were the architects. In photo at left, standing near the main entrance to the building, checking some details, left to right, are Construction Superintendent Joseph Champagne and Clerk of the Works Arthur J. Bertera. Inspiring messages on blackboards of the classroom. Photo on right, must have attracted the attention of the students today.Photo measures 10 x 8.25inches. Photo is dated --1970.
