The Award of Excellence in the National Cleanest Town Achievement Award contest, in the form of the Ernest T. Trigg trophy, was presented to the community by Lady Bird Johnson. Here, during the presentation, Mayor Max Shapiro of South El Monte (left) accepts the trophy from the first lady. Looking on is R.H.
