This pin was made and sold in 1965 to raise funds and support for immediately ending the War in Viet Nam. The pin was originally acquired at the “International Days of Protest,” held on October 15th and 16th, 1965. The person I obtained the pin from was at the Protest on October 16th, and made the little paper note shown in the photos and attached it to the back of the pin. (Note is included with the pin.) The National Coordinating Committee to End the War in Vietnam, founded in August 1965 in Washington, D.C., organized the “International Days of Protest,” along with the Berkeley Vietnam Day Committee and other groups. Protests of various sizes against U.S. involvement in Vietnam took place in dozens of American and several European cities. Perhaps as many as 100,000 people participate in total. The pin reads: END THE WAR in VIETNAM NOW.
Earlier anti Vietnam War pins tended to be more textual than graphic, like this one.
