Caption: VACHERIE, LA - Miles Memorial Park recreational center here will be dedicated on July 4 as a memorial to deceased members of the William Porcher Miles family of New Orleans and as the playland of West St. James Parish.
A representative of Miles Timber Co. from New Orleans is scheduled to accept the dedication memorial, according to Donald Delatte, president of the committee that administers Miles Memorial Park.
A community hall is to be dedicated as "Porcher Hall" as a memorial to William Porcher Miles, Delatte said.
The park was chartered by the state of Louisiana in 1962 to a cmmittee of five local men toward establishing a recreational center on the west side of St. James Parish.
As part of the the July 4 dedication program for Miles Memorial Park in Vacherie, LA, this U.S. Army missile will be placed on display. The Independence Day celebration at the new park will include Family Day festivities.
