This item is being sold for the employee holiday fund at thecontinuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Maine where I live with myhusband.All items are donated by the residents of the community andthe net proceeds of all sales go to the fund that is distributed annually tothe wonderful staff who help the many elderly residents here.I willgive all the information I can about each item, but I am not the originalowner.

A resident donated a huge box and many, many tubes of rolledup vintage maps. It is going to take mesome time to get through all these maps to see what is there and determine howto batch them for sale but I have to get started somewhere.

So I have here a 1962 US Military Army Base Map USAREURHeidelberg-Mannheim & Vicinity Germany 35” x 44”, 2-sided. I believe one of our residents lived inGermany in the 1960s while her father was stationed at a US military base there. This map is made for Americans stationed in thearea (and their families) as all the items on the “Index of Important Areas”are things like American Express, Benjamin Franklin Village, Mark TwainVillage, Patrick Henry Village, Patton Barracks, Stockade…. In doing a little research, all theselocations were part of what was U.S. Army Garrison Heidelberg.

On the back of the map, it is broken into 16 squares, one is anindex and then 15 more detailed maps of some of the items in the index (the “Villages”and Barracks mentioned above). I haveincluded many detailed pictures to give you a good idea as to what the map(both sides) looks like. The picsdescribe it much better than I can. It’sa very interesting map, a great piece of both US military and Germany history.

The map is in very good, gently used condition. I see a few small brown spots but nothingmajor and no rips or tears. This map hasbeen both folded and rolled. I will beshipping it flat (otherwise it would require a 3’ long mailing tube!).

I have many other interesting items up for sale (andwill have more maps in the coming weeks and perhaps months), many to benefitthis wonderful employee fund.
