The atmosphere in the immediate area was still charged with electricity, causing Thomas\' hair to reach toward the heavens. While lightning danced around the Crescent City Saturday hitting homes and knocking great hunks of masonry from buildings, rain fell in tropical sheets, dumping 1.86 inches within two hours.
