Selling my extremely rare original Marilyn Monroe photograph taken by George Barris in 1962 at a beach in Santa Monica, California. In excellent condition; has been cropped from 11x14 size. Gelatin silver. Size 10x9 inch. Produced from the original negative or transparency in the 80’s. George Barris, Edward Weston. Here Marilyn is in a beautiful pose, carefree and happy with such a cute expression on her face in a gorgeous close up shot wearing her famous swimsuit she had for that day. Rare shot-One of the “last photos” ever to be taken of the young starlet.

“Getting (Monroe) items is becoming more and more difficult," said Darren Julien…The supply's less and less, but demand's more and more because you have people in Asia and Russia and all over the world that are collecting pop culture - especially Marilyn Monroe."

-Darren Julien of Julien's sales

Taken shortly before Marilyn’s passing in June of 1962. Barris went shopping for Marilyn before this shooting and is quoted in his book as saying “On my shopping spree for Marilyn, I went to two of her favorite stores, Jax on Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, and Saks Fifth Avenue. At Jax I bought her some beautiful slacks and decorative Emilio Pucci sport shirts. When Marilyn & Barris got to Tim’s house, Barris introduced him and his maid, Louise, to Marilyn. Louise became so nervous when Marilyn shook her hand that she fluttered and stuttered, saying, “Is that really you? No one will believe me when I say I met and shook hands with Marilyn Monroe. I can hardly believe it myself. Is that really you?” Marilyn, laughing, replied, “Sometimes I can hardly believe it, too.”
