Ring with approximately 35 snake eyes / small round and petit point stones in the \"row\" style. It is attributed to Ben Gchachu, Zuni who was active from the 1950\'s. There are no markings or stamps on the ring. It is approximately size 7 3/4 - 8 and approximately 1 3/4\" from top to bottom and 5/8\" at its widest point. It tapers to the back for a comfortable fit and weighs approximately 6.1 grams.
The needlepoint, petit point and snake eyes style emerged in the 1940\'s, primarily in Zuni and have become very collectible over the decades. They are very labor intensive and highly skilled art forms. Each stone has been hand-cut and hand-set in a razor bezel.We purchased this ring in pre-owned vintage condition for our gallery inventory in the 1993 and it has been in inventory or our safe, unworn since that time. At the time of purchase it was represented to have been crafted in the 1960\'s or before. It is in very good condition considering its age and its wear and patina are part of its charm. This ring is a treasure.
