New to market, a relatively uncommon graded example of an off-broadway collectible from the Mick\'s nearly endless catalog. In this case, a Universal Match Corp. Holiday Inn matchbook cover graded by PSA.
This is far more rare, at least in PSA graded form, on the market than the Diamond Matches Holiday Inn matchbooks (there are a few of those for sale on right now, I think). In fact, there have been only a couple sales of Universals (in lower grade than this) across several sale sites (including ) since 2020.

This example is quite under graded--or stated more gently, its looks infinitely better than its grade would suggest. It exhibits spots of light wear as photos show but, as I know as its original submitter, there are no creases or excessive wear on this. In fact, the brown striking strip looks unused and unworn.
The date stamp visible on the interior may be a production date put on at the factory that made the matchbook OR a date stamp put on by the owner back in May, 1962. I tend to think that its a factory production date because the fonts and sizes of the letters (May) are different than the numbers, which is not what I would expect from someone\'s home inkpad and stamper. But, I suspect PSA just chalked it up to a \"mark\" and deducted a couple grades as they do with all marks on graded items.
Great candidate for a resubmission to another company or request for reevaluation by PSA.
