Kidnapped Statue Stirs Up a Storm-This victory goddess statue together with a quadriga (four-horse chariot) was kidnapped by Communists into Red-held East Berlin, Germany, today and is causing a commotion among citizenry and officials of West Berlin. Reds rebuilt the Brandenburg Gate (partly visible in background), just inside city's Communist sector, and agreed to have West Berlin-built quadriga put atop it September 15 to replace memorial almost totally destroyed during World War II. The Reds have promised to return the quadriga and goddess in time for the September unveiling. Kidnapped statue: This statue of the goddess of victory, together with a quadriga (four-horse chariot), was kidnapped by Communists and spirited into Red-held East Berlin Sunday causing a commotion among the citizenry and officials of West Berlin. Restored by West Berlin, the World War II damaged statue was to be hoisted to its perch atop the Brandenburg Gate when the Communists kidnapped it.
