This wonderful hand-signed Christmas Art card was sent in December 1958 to Lemuel Manchester, the Son of Worcester Massachusetts artist Emily Burling Waite Manchester (1887-1980).
The beautiful Gloria artwork inside could be some type of wood block print? and looks to have been applied by hand. There is glitter on top of the artwork that would have been applied by hand as well.It has been hand signed by Joyce Bissell. This is one sheet of paper that was folded upon itself to also serve as its own envelope.Lemuel Manchester (1926-2013) attended the Bancroft School and graduated from Worcester Academy. He worked as a draftsman, then as a Mechanical Engineer (graduating from University of Hartford) for Pratt & Whitney, Combustion Engineering/ABB, and Hamilton Standard where he was part of the team that designed the backpack breathing apparatus for man\'s first walk on the moon.
