Issued by London confectioners Robert R Miranda Limited these contain colordrawings of railway locomotives from the early days right through to the 1950s and overseas examples are also included. The set begins with Murdock’s Steam Vehicle of 1784 and continues with Trevithick’s ‘Newcastle’ Steam Engine of 1797, Stephenson’s ‘Locomotion’ and ‘Rocket’ and an American Williams’ ‘Pioneer’ of 1845 gradually moving forward in time until we get to the 1956 Canadian National Railway diesel locomotive and the streamlined futuristic looking observation car of the Canadian Pacific Railway. British examples include the L.N.E.R’s ‘Mallard’, L.M.S ‘Royal Scot’, G.W.R’s ‘City of Truro’ and an early electric locomotive of the London Underground. The backs contain plenty of information and the name at the bottom is in white text in a black box, but this set was also produced with the name in black in a white box. This is a must for any train enthusiast with cards size 66 x 35mm.
