This week I\'m offering a number of old non-sport cards from various vintage sets. In the early Fifties, the Korean War dominated the news, and dominated the imaginations of young boys. Topps had one of its earliest successes with the \"Freedom\'s War\" set in 1950, and a few years later, they decided to go back to substantially the same subject, issuing a 96-card set devoted to the U.S. Marines. The Fighting Marines set is a mixture of photos and colorful drawings, showing the Marines in a variety of exciting situations (most related to the recently-concluded Korean Conflict), with some historical material thrown in for good measure. The cards measure 2 1/8\" x 3\" and were issued in perforated pairs. They\'re quite tough to find these days, but they remain popular with collectors as a real time capsule, showcasing a popular subject.. Here I have card #20, \"Set for Action\"; it\'s in collectible shape with multiple creases (see scans for condition).
