This is an original press photo. Commuter Emeritus: Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Martin raked autumn leaves at their Bellevue home. Both have lived in Bellevue more than 60 years. Martin, 70, commuted to Seattle for 33 years until his retirement in 1944. --- Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Martin, both residents of Bellevue more than 50 years. He\'s \"commuter emeritus,\" having retired in 1944 from the Seattle Post Office after seeing commuter service improve from small boats to ferries to bridge. --- Mrs. Hugh Martin dies in New York -- Memorial services for Mrs. Emma L. Martin, 89, of New York, formerly of Bellevue, will be at 4 p.m., Sunday, at the Bellevue Congressional Church. She died July 17 in New York City. Mrs. Martin\'s family came here in 1888 from Iowa. They moved to Bellevue in 1889. Her father became Bellevue\'s first postmaster, and her mother was one of three charter members of the church. She and her husband, Hugh, moved to New York in 1963. She worked at the Professional Children\'s School aiding children in poverty areas. --- Photo measures 8.25 x 10.25inches. Photo is dated 11-06-1954.
