Mrs. Hildegarde Schine,

c/o Boca Raton Hotel & Club

Boca Raton, Flae

Dear Mrs, Schine:

Busy, busy, busy - what a business I am in. With all kinds of

details to be taken care of, the day just doesn\'t seem long enough.

That is what I like about coming down to the Boca - You get a chance

to get away from all this daily routine.

It is interesting to see your ambitions towards songwriting,

noting what you said about polkas. While I am not a polka fancier

myself, we do publish them, and polkas like BEER BARREL POLKA, can be

very big hits - So when it is ready, send it on, and I will give you

my opinion on same. You know, you have picked a very tough business.

Guessing what the public likes and dislikes is the same as in other

phases of show business. However, if you get a kick out of it, who

can tell? -You might write some great songs.

As yet we have not started working on RENEE WALTZ, although we

are trying it out through different mediums to get public reaction,

and I will let you know more about it as soon as I get in some reports.

I would have shown RENEE WALTZ to Guy Lombardo, but he is on the road

right now and is not expected back at the Roosevelt until in about

four or five weeks. However, I will see that he gets a copy when he

returns, or if I can locate him prior to his return to New York.

I didn\'t hear from Dore Schary. He probably doesn\'t know the song

is published, and who publishes it - Besides that, he must be a very

busy man, and it might be a good idea for you to write a little personal

note, enclosing a copy◦ The main thing is for him to keep it in mind

should a situation come up in the picture.

I am glad to hear what you say about the reaction fram Nick

DiMico when he plays the number. My boys tell me that they received

a request from the orchestra leader of the Ambassador Hotel in Los

Angeles for a copy, which we sent him - but up to this moment, have

not heard as to whether he has started featuring it. This is a very

important spot to help create songs, and I have been wandering whether ー2~

Tony Cabot heard from the leader regarding same. If he has any infor.

motion that this is being featured there, I would like to know so that

I can follow up in that territory.

I am looking forward to your visit to our offices when you are In

Now York, and to show you the working routine of a music publisher -

which might give you some helpful hints If you are still interested in

songwriting. It Is a fascinating business, and that Is that keeps the

working so hard - the thrill of having a big hit and matching the

public reaction.

Fortunately, at the moment to have an Interesting composition

coming along that looks like it might break for a big hit, entitled

\"SYNCOPATED CLOCK\". I thinks I sent you a copy of game, but If I did

not, will be glad to do so to give you an Idea on your future song-

melting as to the type of thing the public wants.

I guess there is st111 plenty of excitement at the Hotel, And

I hope you and your family an for the rest of the season.

Regards to all,

JACK MILLS

PS

I\'ll be looking forward to manuscript

of \"I\'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER MY FIRST DATE\"

Incidently, Glenn Williams dropped in to see

me while, I was out, but left word he will be

around again...\"

Hildegarde and Junius Myer Schine owned the Schine Hotels which included the Ambassador in LA the Waldorf Astoria, the Boca Club....also the Glove Theater, Schine Theaters, the multi million dollar 1984 Schine Student Center at Syracuse etc etc...see some photos re: that plus known for their COOKIES!

Son G David Schine was the personal lawyer for Senator Joseph McCarthy (HUAC). Hillevi Rombin was the first Miss Universe to pass and the two ...in their day...were society royalty.
