\"The Festival of Punch\" magazine issued 30th April 1951, celebrating the Festival of Britain.
The front page in bright yellow has some good cartoon imagery which is overlaid with a cartoon of the iconic emblem designed by Abram Games.  The humorous nature of the magazine abounds inside which is split into three parts.   Many super colour or black and white cartoon images, some by Emett, Ffolkes, Searle, Fougasse, Reynolds, etc.
Part 1 is called the \'Festival of Punch\', and refers to an imaginery \"Bouverie Street Exhibition\" (10 Bouverie St, was the publishers offices).  It plays on the attributes of British people referring to various exhibits such as \'Gallery of Calm Assumptions\'; \'The Arena of Sports and Pastimes\'; Pavilion of the British Character\'.  
Part 2 is a short history of Punch followed by pages with two years to a page through from 1851 - 1950.
Part 3 \'The Festival Charivari\'.  A humorous view of the real Festival which includes the BBC; exhibitions and events happening around Britain; a couple of reworded poems and songs.
Finally, there are lots of adverts both at the front and back many who refer to the Festival, and also have some significance with the centenary from the Great Exhibition to the Festival of Britain, marking the centenary.
The magazine is complete with paper covers, 112 pages plus colour pages throughout and 82 advert pages.

Condition / Defects:

In very good bright condition internally.  The covers are grubby and it has minor damage to the spine.  It has a light bend in the pages as it has not been stored quite flat.
