Great photos and vintage design.
Rod Hundleywas an American professional basketballplayer and broadcaster. Hundley was the number 1 pick of the 1957 NBA draft by the Cincinnati Royals of of West Virginia University, and was traded to and played his whole career for the Minneapolis and Los Angeles Lakers.During his college years, as a Mountaineer, Hundley played to packed crowds at the Old Field House, his dribbling antics and daredevil maneuvers on the floor leading to his popular nickname, \"Hot Rod Hundley.\"The Mountaineers made their firstNCAAappearance and three total appearances between 1955 and 1957. During his junior year, Hundley averaged 26.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game. He scored more than 40 points in a game six times. Hundley holds a varsity school record with 54 points in a single game against Furman and holds a freshmen team record of 62 points against Ohio. He was a two-time Consensus All-American and and WVU retired his jersey #33. As a Laker, Hundley was known as a deft passer, he made two All-Star games, and played in three NBA Finals (2 of them with his Mountaineers teammate Jerry West).He later made his mark as a broadcaster for the New Orleans and Utah Jazz from 1974 until 2009, and hereceived theCurt GowdyMedia Award from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Astatue dedicated to Rod Hundley stands outside the WVU Coliseum at West Virginia University.
