1950's Albert Rhys-Williams Socialist Writer Russian Apologist 5 Signed Letters:

Albert Rhys Williams (September 28, 1883-Febrary 27, 1962). Williams was an American journalist, labor organizer, and publicist, who is most famous for writing memoirs about the October Revolution of 1917 in Russia, an event in which he was both a witness and participant. Williams signed the letters with his middle name Rhys
5 letters written to Lilla Perry. Lilla S. Perry wrote an book regarding her friendship with Carl Sandburg
1). 4-page letter circa 1952, he writes that a friend, just back from Europe, believes he can sell his Russia stories there, and asks her to look in her house somewhere to locate manuscripts for THE BELL RINGS, FESTIVAL OF THE PANCAKE AND FISH, and THE POET AND THE PEASANT. He also has read some of her articles and speeches, and gives his appraisal of them.
2). 2- page letter, October 1951. A two-page persona letter, in which he writes of his attraction to her, writing and publishing. "The saint achieves fame by doing nothing Sandburg by doing everything". Both were fans of the poet.
3). Postcard sent from Moscow to Lilla Perry with self-typed transcription. He mentions talking with their mutual friend Carl Sandburg, at the American Exposition, about them both being published by Harcourt Brace, yet Sandburg wished only to speak of Lilla.
4). Circa 1953-4 six-page ALS to Lilla Perry. He mentions a visit to ex-vice president Henry Wallace, who had a shelf of manuscript autobiography at his house on- the Hudson and was experimenting with poultry. He south to produce eggs with a white colored shell, which of course became common in later years.
5). 1951-52, three page personal letter in which he writes of his writing, recommends a friend's book on the Cold War, and asks her to send along some books he has left behind. Two page on hotel stationary hinged together with binders tape
