Horizon - Western Flying Training Command AAF Pilot School, Specialized Two Engine Class 43 K. Published by Army Air Field, La Junta, Colorado - 1943. Measures 8 3/4” x 11”. Original World War II era pilot training school yearbook with photos of all pilots, instructors, base activity, etc. The La Junta Army Air Field was opened on July 1942 and closed on May 1945 (AT-24, UC-78, B-25). The base had at least four auxiliary airfields with training switched to B-25s in September 1944. The school transferred to II Fighter Command, June 1945, became single-engine fighter RTU (P-40, P-47).A unique copy that was was owned by Squadron V instructor W.B. Kerner and has his name on the front flyleaf as the signatures of 20 of his fellow fight instructors, etc. on the autographs page at the rear. Large hardbound book shows minor shelf wear with a few spots of light rubbing to the cover - otherwise very good condition with binding tight - covers and pages clean - no writing, soiling, odors, torn or folded pages, etc. Uncommon.
