United States Navy Chief Pharmacist Mate Harold Junior Profitt (service #266-28-07) was born May 21st 1919 in Yukon, West Virginia.


Harold enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a hospital apprentice 1st class on December 19th 1940, he then attended the Navy Hospital Corps school for training to be a pharmacist mate.

Profitt served aboard the Mine sweeper U.S.S. Tide in early 1943 before he was transferred to the tank landing ship U.S.S. LST-222. Pharmacists Mate Profitt saw action at the Occupation of Kwajalein and Majuro Atolls, from January through February 1944. He participated in the capture and occupation of Saipan, June through July 1944. Tinian capture and occupation, July 1944. Lastly the capture and occupation of southern Palau Islands, from September and October 1944. For his service during World War II he was issued this Good Conduct medal dated 1943 with 2nd enlistment bar.


Phm1c Profitt was promoted to Chief Pharmacist Mate and transferred stateside in 1945. He served at many hospitals around the United States, and was then discharged on February 8th 1947. He reenlisted January 19th 1951, and served in the Korean War. On March 21st 1955 the Chief retired from the Navy.


United States Navy Chief Pharmacist Mate Harold Junior Profitt passed away January 1st 1973, he is buried at the Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, USA.
