Up for saleis a complete folder/pamphlet issued bythe CUSHMAN\'S BAKERY of Lynn Massachusetts.On the back page of the pamphlet is a complete uncut Airplane Card fromthe series of forty entitled AIRPLANES OF AMERICA. The series is listed in Burdick’sAmerican Card Catalogue as series D2,The card features a beautifully illustrated Image of the airplane doneby the artist Fred J. Hoertz . AlthoughI call this a card it is actually printed on paper stock rather than cardboard.The pamphlet itself was issued by theBakery with details and advertising for their products, a different one eachweek. The cards printed on the back weremeant to be cut out and pasted into a special Album that you could get from theBakery. As you can imagine finding the full uncut bulletinwith the airplane card not cut out, like this one is rare. The full pamphlet measures4 3/8 inches by 7 inchesapproximately when folded . This pamphlet was issued during 1941, and features a TWIN ENGINED AIRMASTERS. The BULLETIN does have some lighter wrinkles or bends, but not major creases. It is fully intact and features very brightcolor . I think it displays nicely. I have scanned the front and back pages of thepamphlet and opened up fully, fairly large so you can determine the condition foryourself. This is a scarce series. Bread cards are one of the last properlycataloged frontiers of card collecting.With such fantastic art work (in many cases done by well know Americancommercial artist and illustrators) ,diversity of series, and the fact that they are scarce, bread cards area great collectable that are bound to increase in popularity as time goes on.
