1940s U.S. NAVY Insignia AVIATION ORDNANCE Bread Card D49 AMERICAS DEFENDERS Kru:

This scarce cardwas issued by the Krug Baking Company.of New York, as a premium orderfrom. The card is listed as series D49in the ACC and is titled “Know Americas Defenders” The front of each card feature anillustration of one of The Insignia of the U.S. Army , Marines or Navy. The cards are not numbered, but the frontstates that there are 180 in the series. The backs of the cards are laid outand meant to be used as order forms for various Krugs products. I imagine this is one of the reason for thescarcity of this series. After thesewere filled out and picked up by the delivery person most were thrown out. I am unsure of a date of issue but based onthe images I speculate these to have been issued sometime between 1940’s WorldWar 2 era. I base this on the militarysubject and the facts that Krugs issued there Military themed series aroundthis time (those series are dated). Alsothe fact that there was still product delivery service (similar to theMilkman), indicates that WW2 time period as well. The card measures inches by 4 1/4 inches by 2 ¼ inches. approximately. This card features the U.S. NAVY Insigniafor an AVIATION ORDNANCEMAN. It doeshave some light creases. I have scannedthe front and back of the card fairly large for you to be able to judgecondition for yourself.
