Beautiful Mixed Metal Pewter Japanese Design Stein
8 steinsThis was likely manufactured early in the Shōwa Period during the time of Emperor Hirohito\'s reign. Decorative arts at the time were ruled by a heavy and bold look to mimic the country\'s militaristic teachings at the time.
This is cast in solid, heavy bronze and feature a scene on the front that was designed to complement the shape. It has etched artwork with a Japanese homestead and mountains.
There are marks on the underside of the vase that reads \"CPO\" within a diamond shape. This stands for \"Central Purchasing Office\" and was used to indicate items sold on U.S. Army and Navy bases in Occupied Japan just after WWII.
While there are some marks, a few scratches, and areas of wear they remain in good condition.
