1940s Navajo Indian Wedding Basket 14 Points Sumac Willow 11” Diam Very Nice:

This sale is for an older Navajo Wedding basket from the 1940's with 14 points. It measures 11 inches in diameter by 2 inches tall off the table. It is in very good condition although it is slightly faded to the front side as pictured. The last picture is the back of the basket Although this design is associated with weddings, baskets like this are also used for other ceremonies including healing and rites of puberty. It was woven the traditional way using willow for the core and sumac to wrap each coil. The colors were produced with dyes that are likely a combination of natural and commercial sources. I’ve taken pictures of all angles, so nothing is hidden. Please ask questions. Buyer will include $16 priority box shipping. Thanks for looking.
