1940 Dated M-1938 Map Dispatch Case WWII Pre-War Early Style:

Original WWII M-1938 map/dispatch case, dated 1940. This is the early style that has the lower D ring on back for mounted use that was removed from around 1941. Nice rare to find early production piece.
Overall good condition aside from being very dirty. I am leaving the decision of if / how to clean it to the new owner, but I suspect it would clean up very nicely with a little effort. Does have at least two service numbers / laundry numbers marked on it that can be researched if you wish.
The internal stiffener has not been removed from this one, as was done for many in that era. It does feel like it is cracked inside, but this doesn\'t affect the use or display of the case.

No shoulder strap. I do get straps occasionally and will also list them separately when I do.
