1939 NEW YORK WORLD\'S FAIR TLS letter to promote checkers CHRISTY WALSH:

Typed letter dated 7/20/1938 on New Jersey State Checker Association from executive committee member Bill Fitzhenry, signed in fountain pen by him, to Joe Bihler, regarding having a checkers tournament at the 1939 World\'s Fair. Interesting content reads in part, \"I am deeply interested in the game of checkers...the possibility of holding this tournament at the World\'s Fair...every effort...will be made to further the interest in the event.\"

On the back is Christy Walsh\'s typed response, most likely this was in effect a copy of the response letter that was actually sent. Reads in part, \"Checkers has been brought to our attention and...is being considered.\"

Letter shows 3 folds and some edge wear.

Joe Bihler was a close business associate of Babe Ruth, he worked for many years on Ruth\'s promotional projects under Ruth\'s well known business manager Christy Walsh.

Walter \"Christy\" Walsh was an American writer, cartoonist, and sports agent, known for acting as Babe Ruth\'s agent, and is considered to be the first baseball sports agent. He also served as Sports Director for the 1939 New York World\'s Fair.
