1936 The Life Story of Abe [Hollandersky] the Newsboy with U.S. NavySigned w/Provenance (future wife's love letter). One of great characters and personalities of the early 20th Century, Abe Hollandersky was a professional boxer with over 1000 boxing matches between 1905 and 1918 as well as almost 400 wrestling bouts. He developed strong ties to US Navy brass during that era helping with recruiting, embarking on Fleet cruises, coaching boxing to sailors. Given his many contributions and government contacts, he was given permission by Navy Brass to sell his autobiography directly to Navy ships.Not only is his book included in this lot (signed by him in 1937), but also two pieces of paper that were tucked inside. One is an empty envelope dtd Dec. 23, 1930 (see pics #2 & #3); the other is a letter from Freda Weinberg dtd June 27, 1930, which predates her 1931 marriage to Abe (she closes by writing, "Your ever loving Sweetheart...").The condition of the book is fair/acceptable, with the most notable concerns being the worn cover and damaged spine (see pic #18); that aside, the pages are pretty clean.
