Born at the old Ioway Village, on Des

Moines River, about 1786. At sixteen,

he went to war, killed an Osage and

took a piece of a scalp. His leader on

that occasion was Wenugana. After a

long time he went on another war-party

and approaching a camp of the Missouris,

the swiftest young men went forward,

dashed into the camp, and killed about

eleven Indians. He obtained three scalps

in this foray.

This is one of a series of 288 cards of Indian life in the early nineteenth century
