– This rare and iconic early 1930s AIR KING SKYSCRAPER tube radio in Black Plaskon is one of those near mythical discoveries – fresh from a rural Southeastern Pennsylvania home, untouched, unpolished and all original save the one replacement knob. The radio has some surface grime from years of storage – a careful polishing will highlight the sleek Black Plaskon Art Deco cabinet with all it’s stepped and layered molding. The radio has no chips or cracks, the dial and upper worlds panel are fine – the metal label is intact on the lower back of the set. Amazingly, the radio lights and gets reception – I didn’t examine this aspect further – I was just pleased to see it light and come alive. The Air King is considered amongthe very rarestof collectable Art Deco radios. So important is this radio that it opens the classic radio book by Sideli, announcing the beautiful colored gems to come in the ensuing decade or so. These early 7500.00radios have always been elusive and most radio enthusiasts have never seen or owned an example. This is as straight and right as it gets – I have not touched the radio.Buyer pays 100.00-150.00 safe double boxed bubble shipping, Insurance and tracking in USA - depending upon destination.
