Remarkable, in the showing of the Case team this year, is the playing of Case\'s deaf mute left end, Max Kutler. Kutler went to Cleveland\'s deaf school, then in spite of the inability to speak or hear, in three years he completed his prep school work at East Tech. There he went in for sports in a big way. Played varsity football two years (lip-reading the quarterback signals) played varsity basketball two years, starred as captain of Tech\'s tennis team. Here at Case he came out for the squads. But skeptical Case coaches used him little. Last year he played in only two football games, didn\'t even report for basketball work. But Coach Claude Sharer thought he could use him, in mid-season called him away from the Jewish Center Class A\'s, put him right on the varsity team, built up Kutler\'s confidence. This year, under Ride, his football game improved immensely. He has started all three games, starred in all three games. Last week at Oberlin, he picked up the punt that Artner blocked, ran 35 yards, put Case in scoring position. Kutler is a senior, a mechanical engineer, rates a 1.98 scholastic average in the Dean\'s office. Photo measures 8 x 10inches. Photo is dated 11-04-1930. PHOTO FRONT
