This fantastic cardis one in a series of cards issued in theUnited States by the B.S. KLISE Bakery of Petoskey Michigan. One was insertedinto each package of their brand of BON-TONBread . The card is listed a series D61 in the ACC.The Front of the card features a playful illustration for the nurseryRhyme LITTLE JACK HORNER. The originalart was done by C.M. Burd. Burd is awell know American illustrator who’s art appearedin many advertising images (including several other Bread and Bakery Card seriesissues), puzzles, blotters, and manyearly American Magazine covers (including several fro Harpers Weekly in the1910 era). She is best know for herimages of Children (very Kewpie Doll / Camels Kid looking) and has also doneNumerous Children’s books illustrations through out the 1920’s. Her work is often grouped in with and comparedto that of RoseO\'Neill who is best know forher Kewpie Doll Characters and illustrations and Grace Wiederseim . best know for her CampbellKids Characters. The back provides advertisingfor the Bread. The Card measures 3½ inches by 5 ½ inches approximately. The card does have some light creases (theyare more like bends or wavyness rather than actual creases). I havescanned the card both front and back fairly large for you to be able to judgecondition for yourself. This is a scarce series.
