This scarce card is one in a series of 43 cards issuedin Canada by the WILLARDS ChocolatesLimited Company of Toronto. One was insertedinto each package of WILLARD’SChocolates. They are listed as series V101in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue, they are entitled “Indian Series ”.Although no guide that I know of provides an actual date of issued I have always assumedthat it is some time around the late 1920’s era. Each card features a colorful imagerepresenting an aspect of Traditional Native American Indian Life. The back states that there are 43 cards in theseries and gives a brief summary of the features aspect of Native life featured, done in both English and French Languages This card number 40 in the series, and is titled Basket & Bead Work.The Card measures 2 11/16 inches by 1 3/8inches approximately. The card does have some corner & edge wear, but isfree from major creasing I have scannedthe front and back of the card fairly large so you can determine the conditionfor yourself. THESE CARDS WERE NEVER ISSUED IN THE U.S. andare scarce. Due to the lower populationin Canada than in the US, print runs inCanada were much smaller comparedwith American Cards. (Because ofthis the majority of all Canadian non sports cards are far scarcer than cardissued in the US)
