Here\'s some info on the photo, Meserve & his daughter:

Frederick Hill Meserve (1865 – 1962) was a businessman and collector of photographs. He published a large collection of early American photographic portraits. In 1944 he worked with historian Carl Sandburg to publish 100 photographs of Abraham Lincoln. The Library of Congress has his photographic publishings in its collection. His father William Neal Meserve was a veteran of the American Civil War and kept a diary. Dorothy née Meserve Kunhardt was his daughter.

Dorothy Kunhardt (née Dorothy Meserve; September 29, 1901 – December 23, 1979) was an American children\'s-book author, best known for the baby book Pat the Bunny. She was also a historian and writer about the life of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. Kunhardt wrote nearly 50 books, including one of the bestselling children\'s books in history, Pat the Bunny, which has sold over six million copies. She initially wrote it for her youngest child Edith Kunhardt Davis. Other works include Twenty Days, an account of Lincoln\'s assassination and the twenty days that followed, which she wrote with her son, Philip B. Kunhardt, Jr.; Tiny Animal Stories; The Telephone Book; Lucky Mrs. Ticklefeather; Brave Mr. Buckingham; Junket is Nice (1933); Wise Old Aard-Vark (1936); and Now Open the Box. A daughter of historian Frederick Hill Meserve, she was born in New York City and graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1923. She married Philip B. Kunhardt, Sr. (son of George E. Kunhardt), a New Yorker and a Harvard Crimson football letterwinner. Their home in Morristown, New Jersey housed a collection of items related to the American Civil War and Abraham Lincoln.

Postage rates are non-negotiable and non-refundable. We pack every item professionally using new packing materials and appropriate mailing supplies. We send all items via US Postal Service. The U.S.Postal service rates change fairly regularly every year and we don\'t make money on postage like some other sellers. I think you\'ll find that we\'re quite fair. Thank-you!

Terms of Sale

I try and place a penny in every photo to help judge the size of the item, obviously it is there for size comparison and is not included with the item. The standard sized Lincoln head penny in the photograph is there for size comparison ONLY and is not included in the package. We\'re just trying to help you figure out how big the item is. We try and always be as accurate as we can in the item description and will gladly answer any question about item size & description when needed. Please e-mail us with any questions BEFORE the end of sale and BEFORE placing a offer. Postage is determined by the U.S. Postal service and is never refundable. Many of the items are VINTAGE and although they are in very fine condition, they may not function as well as when they were made decades ago. So if you intend on using the old item, please be aware that we are selling it for collector value only. In other words, if you intend on using a 50+ year old letter opener and it breaks, don\'t get mad at us. It may be hard to believe, but we have received a couple negatives because people broke vintage items while trying to use them.
