The dark green card has an artart nouveau motif on the front of the left flap. This photo is fromEdward Mollenhauer, a photographer who lived and worked in Yorktown, Texas, during the early 20th century. The black-and-white photo is in excellent condition, clear and sharply detailed. The dark green, tri-fold card is in very good condition, with evidence of wear at the hinges an along the edges. About Edward Mollenhauer, PhotographerThe son of German immigrants to Texas, Ed Mollenhauer (b.1872 - d. 1962), was born, lived and died in Yorktown, Texas,inDeWitt County, about 80 miles southeast of San Antonio. After the First World War, until 1952, Mollenhauer was Yorktown’s undertaker, the owner of Mollenhauer\'s Funeral Home. Prior to World War One, however, he was a partner with his brother Herman in a hardware store, and then owner of a grocery store. For a few years, from at least 1905 until 1914, he also ran a photography studio out of his grocery store. In October, 1910, he appears on a list of attendees at the Texas Professional Photographers Association convention in Houston, and advertisements for his photography gallery run in local papers until at least 1914. This is a rare item from asmall-town,turn-of-the-century, Texas photographer. In fact, the only other Mollenhauer photograph I’ve seen is a cabinet card of an infant, part of the Lawrence T. Jones III Texas Photographs collection at Southern Methodist University. This is a must-have for anyone interested in Texas photographers.Priced Fairly at $13.95
