This 1909 postcard features a scenic illustration of the Merrimac River in Massachusetts, depicting two cows standing in the water surrounded by lush trees and greenery. The image has a soft, painted aesthetic with a tranquil rural setting. The bottom of the front reads, "THE MERRIMAC RIVER, MASS." The back of the postcard is postmarked April 12, 1909, from Shoals, Indiana, and has a one-cent Benjamin Franklin stamp affixed in the upper right corner. It is addressed to Miss Pearl K. Rumbur in Shoals, Indiana and contains a handwritten message in cursive discussing church and local activities. The "Post Card" heading is ornately printed, and the layout includes a designated message and address area. There is some minor wear along the edges and light discoloration due to age, but overall, it remains in good condition for its age, with clear postmarking and legible handwriting. A great addition for collectors of early Massachusetts, Indiana, or historical rural scenery postcards.
