1905 Michigan Football Student Petition "Withdrawl From Western Conference" For Sale
1905 Michigan Football Student Petition "Withdrawl From Western Conference":
One of the most important documents related to College Football and the Michigan Wolverines that exists, the offered item represents the birth of a dynasty. Having achieved fantastic success in 1903 and 1904, the students and athletes at the University of Michigan were getting fed up with the lack of respect that they were receiving on a national scale. As a result, the most well known and respected students at the school put together a formal petition to the Board of Control of Athletics at the school to officially leave the Western Conference (what would eventually become the Big 10) to seek better competition on the gridiron and respect from the bigger schools. The offered set of documents is the two page handwritten draft of the petition complete with corrections and ideas (drafted ont he back of "Michigan Alumnus" circulars") as well as the typewritten and signed final draft, the actual petition to withdraw from the Western Conference! Three pages representing one final document that stands out as one of the most significant Football Documents in Michigan Wolverines History and worthy of the College Football Hall of Fame!
Tonight I am listing over 200 quality University of Michigan items from the scrapbook/estate of Clifford Stevenson. He was a 1906 Graduate from the school and one of the more popular and accomplished students from 1902-1906! Check out the other items in my store to view these items.
