18th C. Antique English Pewter Plate, \"Robert Porteus\", c. 1765:

Antique English Pewter Charger, ROBERT PORTEUS, c. 1760 - 1790. This pewter plate has an early flat or plain rim and a nicely hand hammered finish. This is an English manufactured charger from the middle of the eighteeth century. This plate has worn marks but the remants of enough to see \"OB- _ XXXTEUS\" is still there. On the other side of the back rim there is the remnants of a mark that reads, \"GRACE CHURCH STREET LONDON.\" This is a mark utilized by Robert Porteus who worked out of London from 1762 through 1765. There are also two stickers from the collector on the back of the plate. One is a sticker that explains when and where the buyer purchased the plate with their inventory number. This plate was in this collection from June of 1967 to now. One reads, \"ROBERT PORTEUS - 1760 - 1790 - COTTERRELL MARK# 3731.\" This mark is listed in \"OLD PEWTER IT\'S MAKERS AND MARKS\" by Cotterell. page 286, #3731. This is a nice example of an English pewter plate offered with and a Buy It Now.DIMENSIONS: The plate is 5/8\" high x 9 1/4\" diameter.CONDITION: The condition is very good for the age with some minor pitting, wear, scratching, and denting to the surface.
