Here we havean antique restaurant menu from the Royal Hotel, dated July 2, 1898. With \"Sir Watkin Pudding\" on the menu, we can be assured that the \"Royal\" is British but the location of the exact hotel is a mystery. It could be practically anywhere in the world due to the British having been terribly busy at the time building up their empire wherever they could get a foothold. The palm leaf graphic suggests somewhere tropical. We have lots of rare and interesting restaurant menus in our store, and we\'re always happy to combine shipping at actual cost.
Vintage: dated July 2, 1898
Provenance: From the estate of the Lake Bluff, Illinois, entrepreneur and epicurean, Othon Ochsner (1934-2017) who had a passion for collecting fine wines, cookbooks and restaurant menus from his travels around the world. Besides being the president and CEO of Ochsner International, and the managing director of Ochsner Auto and Bike Museum, Ochsner Object d\' Art Gallery, and Ochsner Cook Book Library, he belonged to the Ordre Des Canardiers, a French organization dedicated to the preservation of French culinary traditions; and Les Amis d\' Escoffer Society, which describes itself as \"the nation\'s foremost fraternity of dedicated gastronomes.... with a membership consisting of chefs de cuisine, hotel executives, restauranteurs, and business executives who gather monthly for epicurean meals.\"

Condition: Overall good antique condition, with light to moderate surface wear, but nothing sticky or otherwise gross, and no smoke, mildew or any other funky odors. Please see the photos for condition appearance details.
