We are both the oldest surviving members of our families. As life-long collectors, and inheritors from those who have Gone Before, we must move on some of our Stuff before that (hopefully far-off) day when it becomes our children’s responsibility. A collection of very early books / publications, mainly about Sydney and New South Wales though Tasmania, Perth and Adelaide also get a mention. From the estate of a well-known collector. Unfortunately due to poor storage sometimes the condition is questionable, and many of them are very hard to find, and very old, so some deficit in condition can be excused. Please read the full description carefully, and look at all the pictures. Some have the original price paid in pencil, or receipts from book sellers. I am not a bookseller so I have listed these as Historical Memorabilia, which they certainly are. Many have been reproduced as facsimile, or print on demand, but there is something about owning an original IMO. Because of condition issues I have priced these items well below any that may be available through booksellers on-line, though for several no copy could be found. Happy to combine.

1891 THE WILD WEST OF TASMANIA DESCRIPTION OF SILVER FIELDS OF ZEEHAN & DUNDAS #12By Wilberton Tilley. Published by Evershed Bros., Zeehan & Dundas, 1891. 21.5 x 14 cms. Illustrated hard board covers in reasonable condition, cloth spine insect damaged. It has the bookplate of G. & N. [Geoffrey and Nan] Ingleton on the inside front cover and has Ingleton Catalogue no. 3530 on the inside back cover. Inserted invoice to the collector dated 1972 – this has tanned the front free. Unsightly age spotting to the fore edge, otherwise internally clean and bright, except for the photographic plate between pages 28/9 which is age spotted. 93 pp followed by 25 pp advertisements, b&w photographic and illustrated plates. The 25 pages of advertisements are fascinating, giving a good idea of what goods and services were available in these “Wild West” towns in 1891. A rare book, and essential for anyone interested in this period of Tasmanian history.
