1890s BRADSHAW’S Pepsin GUM DIE CUT Card FLAG GIRL France RARE Embossed 7 inches:

This stunning diecut advertising card or paper doll / toy, was issuedby the Bradshaw Company in Canada toAdvertise their of Pepsin Gum. I believethat Bradshaw’s is related to the Britten & Bradshaw Company of Toronto whostarted out making Pepsin Gum in the 1880’s.This piece was found in Ontario Canada so it would make sense, but isspeculation on my part. What I do know is that this is a very rarepiece. I have not been able to findthese listed in any guide that I am aware of (American Card Catalogue ect.) soI have not been able to confirm an exact date of issue,. However based of the type of products advertising,and the graphic style used, an educatedguess would be the 1890’s. The seriesfeatures an embossed, die cut image of abeautiful woman holding a flag of the featured country while she stands upon aglobe with an map image of the country showing on the globe. The advertising for Bradshaw’s Pepsin Gum isalso on the globe. The backs wereissued blank. I am unsure how many arein the series in total but I have personally come across only 2 different overthe past 40 years. I am unsure who didthe lithography, but they are beautifully done.Because it is a die cut card it is difficult to determine measurements,but this one measures 7 ¾ inches tall by2 inches at its widest (approximately).This card features the country of FRANCE. The card does have glue and paper remnantsadhered to the back. It was more thanlikely removed from a Victorian Scrap Album at some point in its pastlife. I have scannedthe card fairly large for you to be able to judge condition for yourself. Don’tmiss out on this over 130 year old Lithographic Antique.
