A rare and original, \"1880s Cabinet Card Photograph of a Distinguished Young Man From Brockton, Massachusetts.\" It is an outstanding, period cabinet card photograph, which measures approx. 5-1/2\" X 3-7/8\" (13.7 cm X 9.7 cm.) and is mounted on its original beige Card Mount , which measures approx. 6-1/2\" X 4-1/2\" (16.3 cm X 10.5 cm.)

At the bottom of the card it gives the photographer\'s information: E. T. Bass Photo. P. O Block, Brockton. The similar information is also on the back of the card, plus the fact that it used to be \"Burrell\'s Photography.\" Edward T. Bass operated at this location from 1880 to 1900, according to the Greenough\'s Brockton City Directories. It is based on that and the details in the photo, which helped us date the photo to about 1880.There are SO many things in this photo, which are typical of the 1880\'s: his hair style, the stand-up collar, the coat style. Although many men of that time sported facial hair, sometimes of an elaborate cut, it was not uncommon to see men, especially younger men, who were clean shaven.

This wonderful \"Cabinet Card Photo\" is in good to excellent condition. It is very slightly faded, but the details still show very well. All surfaces and edges are in perfect condition, although there is just a tad of foxing on the photo. There is a gold band around the photo, and a decorative band near the bottom of the card in gold-gilt ink. Customers paid more for that extra, elegant touch. The corners are rounded and in perfect condition.
