A rare original half-cased tintype photograph, dated on the rear March 1880, of two young sea cadets in uniform on either side of a gentleman in civilian clothes and wearing a bowler hat, who is holding a similar photograph (perhaps of the boys prior to training). The sitters\' names are written on the rear in ink in a contemporary hand, as is the place \'Rudyard\', presumably the village near Horton in Staffordshire.
Size (approx.): sixth plate (inc. case) - 3.75in x 3.25in / 9.5cm x 8.2cm.
Condition: photograph - very good / case - fair only with some splitting to wood on top edge. Glass, photo and gilt border loose within case.
