Stereoview photograph (oversized, cabinet size) of menby a Civil War monument in Glens Falls, New York, by Seneca Ray Stoddard ofGlens Falls, New York, circa 1870s to 1880s. The view, No. 458 from the Crystalseries and entitled Soldiers’ Monument, Glens Falls, from South, shows foursketchy looking characters loitering by a Civil War monument set at the fork intwo broad dirt streets. Though a bit difficult to see in this view, there is acarving of an eagle on top of the obelisk. This Civil War memorial, at theintersection of Bay and Glen Streets, was constructed in 1868 and dedicated in1872. The stereoview is in very good condition with minimal wear and soiling.The photographs exhibit very good tonal range and show very good detail. A verynice early Queensbury and Glens Falls NY Civil War related image!
