Stereoview photograph of \"The Windsor, Montreal\" number 796. This is an exterior view of the Windsor Hotel which was constructed between 1875 and 1878 by the Windsor Hotel Company consortium of six businessmen, one of whom was W. Notman who took this image. Notman is one of the most famous & renowned of the Canadian photographers. This circa 1870\'s card is as issued with a rounded corners matt in the oversized & impressive 6 15/16 inches by 4 1/4 inches size. There is a small surface scratch on the left corner of the photo on left. There is a tiny brown spot on the left border. Otherwise, the example we are offering is in fresh near mint condition.
This stereoview still retains all of the original beauty & glory that is typical for the superb high quality photographs of Notman. The Notman firm had locations in assorted Canadian cities including Montreal, Toronto, Halifax, Ottawa, & St. John, N. B.
