General Lucius Fairchild (1831-1896) was a distinguished Union Army officer and politician from Wisconsin. He served in the Mexican-American War before joining the Union Army during the Civil War, where he rose to the rank of brigadier general. Fairchild lost his left arm at the Battle of Gettysburg but continued to serve until the war's end.
