This is a 1782 Connecticut Revolutionary War Interest Bearing Pay Certificate issued to Samuel Thistle, a Soldier in the Connecticut Line of the Continental Army. The note is dated June 1,1782 and signed by J. Lawrence, Treasurer. This particular note is an original and high grade piece, nicer than most you will find. These notes were issued by Connecticut, which was unable to pay the soldiers due to lack of funding. Interest was paid annually and recorded as shown on the reverse until 1789 at which time the note washole cancelled.The left side of the note has a wavy indentured cut to prevent counterfeiting as typical of early important documents between 2 parties.It measures about 8\" wide at the bottom border by 3 3/4\" high.
