This is a beautiful, Vintage \"Soennecken\" Ballpoint Pen.

The pen is Made in Bonn Germany

circa 1959\'s.

ABOUT the BRAND:

Soennecken factory in Poppelsdorf (Bonn).
Soennecken Verlag was founded in 1875\'s when Friederich Soennecken went into business by opening a stationery shop in Iserlohn. Friederich Soennecken had already founded in 1868 the Kaufmannische Verein Iserlohn, an association dedicated to business correspondence, and had developed his own style of calligraphy.
With the opening of the shop he started a sale of nibs,
inkwells and calligraphy exercise books which were very successful among university students,
so much so that in 1876\'s he moved to the university city of Bonn.
Thanks to the success of his style, the company had a considerable expansion and already in 1883\'s a three-storey headquarters
was built in Poppelsdorf, in the center of Bonn, with about forty employees at work.
In this same period the company expanded into the writing instruments market thanks to inventions such as the flip notebook and the hole punch. Soennecken became one of the main German producers in the field of stationery, extending its production also to office furniture.
Finally, the line that constituted the top of the range was the 111, of even greater dimensions and produced in eight different colors and also with herringbone celluloid processing.
Although the pens of the two highest ranges are of extraordinary quality, they did not collect a great success, also due to a too high price (which makes them rather rare and highly sought after by collectors). This, together with the difficulties encountered
in the sales of objects and office furniture, led to a decline of the company throughout the 1950\'s.
In the 1960\'s a relaunch was attempted, the superfluous lines were eliminated and only the economic models 100 and 101 were left in production, equipped with a particular loading system but even these were not successful during the boom
in the disposable ballpoint pen, and in 1967\'s Soennecken closed its doors.
