See photos for description and condition details. Approx. 10" x 3.5"I'm not an expert so I cannot guarantee authenticity. It came from an estate sale in Ohio which had a large nautical collection. Feel free to ask questions or request a specific photo. I do know this model of the Griswold "Fognozl" came out in 1951.

SS United States is a luxury passenger linerbuilt in 1952 for United States Lines designed to capture thetrans-Atlantic speed record.

Built at a cost of $78 million, the ship is the largest oceanliner constructed entirely in the US, the fastest ocean liner tocross the Atlantic in either direction, and even in her retirementretains the Blue Riband given to the passenger liner crossing theAtlantic Ocean in regular service with the record highest speed.

Her construction was subsidized by the US government, since shewas designed to allow conversion to a troop carrier should the needarise. United States operated uninterrupted in transatlanticpassenger service until 1969. Since 1996 she has been docked at Pier82 on the Delaware River in Philadelphia.
